As a Licensed Psychologist in North Carolina, Dr. Williams provides thorough evaluations using standardized psychological tests, clinical interviews, behavioral observations, and collateral information when appropriate. Every evaluation is designed to answer specific referral questions while providing meaningful recommendations that can be used by individuals, families, physicians, schools, and other professionals.

Our goal is to help clients better understand their strengths, identify areas of concern, and develop practical next steps for success at home, school, work, and in everyday life.

Educational & Intellectual Assessments

Educational and intellectual evaluations provide valuable insight into how an individual thinks, learns, remembers, processes information, and solves problems. These comprehensive evaluations help identify learning strengths and weaknesses while providing recommendations that support academic success.

Educational and intellectual testing may be appropriate for:

  • Learning disabilities

  • Intellectual disabilities

  • Giftedness

  • Academic underachievement

  • Reading, writing, or math difficulties

  • Memory and processing concerns

  • Executive functioning difficulties

  • Educational planning

  • Requests for school accommodations

These evaluations often include measures of intellectual ability (IQ), academic achievement, attention, memory, language, visual-spatial skills, and executive functioning. Following testing, Dr. Williams prepares a detailed report that explains the results in understandable language and includes individualized recommendations for parents, schools, colleges, and other professionals when appropriate.

Psychological Evaluations

Psychological evaluations provide a comprehensive understanding of emotional, behavioral, cognitive, and personality functioning. Individuals seek psychological testing for many reasons, including diagnostic clarification, treatment planning, and understanding emotional or behavioral concerns.

A psychological evaluation may help assess concerns related to:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Mood disorders

  • Trauma-related symptoms

  • Personality functioning

  • Emotional regulation

  • Behavioral concerns

  • Stress and adjustment difficulties

  • Diagnostic clarification

Rather than relying on a single test, Dr. Williams integrates information from multiple evidence-based assessment tools, clinical interviews, and professional observations to develop an accurate and individualized understanding of each client.

ADHD Evaluations

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) can affect children, adolescents, and adults differently. Difficulty concentrating, forgetfulness, poor organization, impulsivity, restlessness, and challenges with time management may interfere with success at school, work, and home.

Dr. Williams provides comprehensive ADHD evaluations that go beyond simple screening questionnaires. Evaluations are designed to determine whether ADHD is present or whether another condition may better explain an individual's symptoms.

ADHD evaluations may include:

  • Comprehensive clinical interview

  • Developmental history

  • Educational history

  • Standardized ADHD rating scales

  • Cognitive testing

  • Executive functioning assessment

  • Attention measures

  • Review of previous records when available

Following the evaluation, clients receive a detailed written report that includes diagnostic impressions and individualized recommendations for treatment, school, workplace accommodations, and ongoing support.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Evaluations

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) affects communication, social interaction, behavior, and sensory processing in unique ways for every individual. A comprehensive autism evaluation can provide valuable diagnostic clarification and help guide appropriate interventions and supports.

Dr. Williams conducts autism evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults who may be experiencing:

  • Social communication difficulties

  • Difficulty understanding social relationships

  • Restricted or repetitive behaviors

  • Sensory sensitivities

  • Executive functioning challenges

  • Long-standing questions regarding possible autism

Autism evaluations may include developmental history, clinical interviews, standardized assessment instruments, behavioral observations, adaptive functioning measures, and review of relevant records.

Comprehensive reports provide diagnostic conclusions along with recommendations for treatment, educational planning, workplace supports when appropriate, and additional community resources.

Bariatric Surgery Psychological Evaluations

Many bariatric surgery programs require a psychological evaluation before surgery as part of the medical clearance process.

The purpose of the evaluation is not to determine whether someone "passes" or "fails." Instead, the evaluation helps identify emotional, behavioral, and lifestyle factors that may influence long-term surgical success while ensuring individuals are well-prepared for the significant lifestyle changes that accompany bariatric surgery.

During the evaluation, Dr. Williams may assess:

  • Emotional functioning

  • Eating behaviors

  • Coping skills

  • Motivation for surgery

  • Expectations regarding weight loss

  • Mental health history

  • Substance use history

  • Ability to comply with postoperative recommendations

  • Available support systems

After completion of the evaluation, a comprehensive report is prepared and provided according to the requirements of the referring bariatric surgery program with appropriate client authorization.

  • Comprehensive written report

  • Feedback session to review findings and recommendations

The length of testing varies depending on the referral question and type of evaluation.

Telepsychology Through PSYPACT

Dr. Williams participates in PSYPACT (the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact), which allows qualified licensed psychologists to provide telepsychology services across participating states.

PSYPACT is an interstate compact designed to improve access to psychological services by allowing licensed psychologists who meet specific requirements to provide telehealth services to clients located in other PSYPACT member states without obtaining a separate psychology license in each participating state.

This means that if you reside in another PSYPACT participating state, Dr. Williams may be able to provide psychological services remotely while you are physically located in that state at the time of your appointment.

PSYPACT currently includes more than 40 participating states, with additional states joining over time. Eligibility depends on both the psychologist's authorization and the client's physical location during services.

If you are located outside North Carolina, please contact our office to determine whether telepsychology services are available in your state through PSYPACT.
